Striped Lavender-Blue Flowers for Early Spring

Spring Beauty snow crocus brings lavender-blue flowers with distinct dark-blue stripes on the outer petals and bright yellow centers. The combination of lavender, purple, and plum tones rewards a closer look as the garden begins to wake from winter.

Plant clusters beside a walkway or at the front of a sunny border where the small flowers can be enjoyed up close. Their early blooms also offer visiting bees a seasonal flower resource when conditions allow them to forage.

What You Are Ordering

  • Product: Crocus corms for planting, commonly sold as bulbs; not seeds or flowering potted plants.
  • Variety: Spring Beauty snow crocus.
  • Pack options: Choose 10 or 25 corms. The size selector labels these packs as bulbs.
  • Corm grading: 5/7 cm, a corm-size measurement rather than flower diameter.
  • Flower color: Lavender blue with dark stripes and yellow centers.
  • Bloom season: Very early spring; exact timing varies with climate and weather.
  • Listed hardiness: USDA zones 3–8.

Fall Planting

Choose a sunny location with well-drained soil. Plant in fall before the ground freezes, placing the pointed tips upward.

  • Depth: Approximately 4 inches (10 cm), following any instructions supplied with the corms.
  • Layout: Group corms in clusters, allowing space between them rather than letting them touch.
  • Water: Water after planting to settle the soil; avoid persistently wet conditions.
  • Protection: Squirrels and other small mammals may disturb corms. Use a suitable bulb-protection method where needed.

After Flowering and Naturalizing

Leave the foliage intact until it yellows and dies back naturally. If planting in a lawn, delay mowing that area until the leaves have finished so the corms can replenish their reserves.

Spring Beauty may return and gradually multiply where conditions are suitable. The rate of spreading and repeat flowering depends on drainage, climate, and care; rapid multiplication is not guaranteed.

Ornamental Use Only

This is a spring-flowering ornamental crocus, not saffron crocus. Do not harvest it for saffron or eat the corms or other plant parts. Keep planting stock away from children and pets.
