Size: 1 TUBER

summer bloom, Summer, Plant, Dahlia, Flowers, summer planter, tuber, balltype

This ball-type variety bears unique orb-shaped blooms made up of tightly packed tubular petals. Though Mirella's form is outstanding, it's the color that really turns heads. Rich orange and red-orange hues blend together nicely, and are shot through with coppery highlights that create a glowing appearance on the flowers. They make the perfect choice for cut-flower bouquets or a lovely border flower that works well with any light, bright or dark perennials you can find. Easy-to-grow dahlias are tolerant of many soil types and deer resistant. If you live in zones 3-6, dig tubers in fall and store in a cool, dry place til next year.

The diversity of Dahlias allow you to use them in many different aspects of your landscape design, from low growing border plants to stately background plantings which may reach six feet in height. Dahlias make excellent cut flowers, which typically last about a week in the house.Alauna Clair-Orscur Dahlia:This Cactus Dahlia steals the show! Large blooms create a dramatic look with deep pink colors in the middle, fading out to pure white at the tips. Like other Cactus Dahlias, Alauna Clair-Obscurs fringed, twisted petals give the blooms a sense of texture and depth in the garden. With little care, this Dahlia will soon become one of your favorites and add spectacular color from summer all the way until frost.

Hummingbirds and butterflies will come visit the garden as soon as soon as the blooms open up, coming and going throughout the season. This variety is so gorgeous, be sure to plant extras so youll have plenty to cut and bring inside to show off.

Dahlias are hardy in zones 8 -10. Dahlias are susceptible to cold so be careful not to plant them too early and be sure to dig them up and store them in a frost-free place before old Jack Frost comes calling if you are planting them in a cooler zone! Your new Dahlias tubers can be stored in the refrigerator until planting time or get a head start on spring and start them indoors in a sunny window.

Planting Growing Instructions

Dahlia tubers can be planted 10cm deep in fertile well drained soil, outdoors in spring when the frost has disappeared. They prefer to be in a sunny location and spaced at approximately 45cm apart.

Cultural Instructions

In areas where there is extreme cold, dig up dahlias and store in a cool peat over the winter. Apply a high potash fertiliser every few weeks in the summer to help growth and they can be dead headed when necessary.
