Butterflies of many species are attracted to its bright blooms. It grows in all regions of North America in any soil from sand to clay, but it must have full sun. Black-eyed Susan care includes deadheading to prolong the bloom season, but the plants will re-seed themselves readily if you leave a few blooms to go to seed.

Black-Eyed Susan (Rudbeckia Hirta) is a beautiful, common wildflower with golden yellow petals and a dark brown center. It is easy to grow from seeds and can adapt to various soil and light conditions. Native to the eastern US, it is a popular addition to fields and natural settings.
Plant Black-Eyed Susan seeds outdoors in Fall or early Spring. Loosen top layers of soil, remove weeds, and rake in seeds. Keep soil moist for germination. Space plants 12-18 inches apart. Blooms will appear in the second year. Easy to grow and adds color to any garden.
