  • Description

Mino Early is a long-time favorite of Japanese Daikon radish. This variety is widely planted in Japan from late summer through fall. Plants mature 40 days after sowing. The root is 18-24 inches long, pure white and slightly tapered. White flesh is very crispy and tender with mild pungency.

For optimal growth, Daikon radishes thrive in well-drained, friable soils with a pH range of 5.8-6.8. It is recommended to deeply till the soil or use raised beds to promote straight roots and facilitate harvest.
When planting, sow seeds 2" apart and thin to 4-6" apart, with rows spaced 24" apart. Note the appropriate planting seasons based on the variety. For best results, carefully lift the brittle roots with a fork or by undermining them, leaving about 2" of top growth. After washing, store Daikons at a temperature of 32°F (0°C) with 95% relative humidity for 6-10 weeks.
