Heshiko bunching onion is a Japanese heirloom, non-bulbing, onion type of scallion that produces tender, pungent, flavorful leaves, with 12-14 inch white stalks. This onion divides at its base making it a productive plant for great harvests. No garden is complete without this green onion!

60-80 Days to maturity. Allium fistulosum. Heshiko Onion Seeds. Non-GMO, perennial, open-pollinated, heirloom, cold tolerant, drought tolerant, bunching onion. Suitable for growing in greenhouses, garden plots, raised beds, and containers. This Japanese bunching onion or scallion produces tender leaves with white 12-14 inch stalks. The onion has delicious, white, pungent flesh. This variety will over-winter. Approximately 12,700 seeds per ounce.

Prepare fertile, well-drained soil. Sow seeds in a sunny location in late spring after danger of all frost is passed and when soil temperatures are consistently above 50? or fall. Keep soil moist and fertilize as needed. Longer white stems can be achieved by mounding earth up over the stems to blanch them. Bunching onions may be harvested at any stage, from microgreen to full maturity. Use in Japanese soups, salads, and stir-fries.
