Size: 1 Packet-1000 Seeds

Fill the salad bowl with Tango Green, a loose-leaf lettuce with broad, deeply frilled dark-green leaves. Its tangy flavor and tender, crisp texture make it a standout in fresh salads, mixed greens, and garnishes. Harvest a few outer leaves at a time, or cut above the growing point for regrowth.

At a glance

  • Type: Loose-leaf lettuce
  • Season: Cool-season annual; spring and fall
  • Flavor and texture: Tangy, tender, and crisp
  • Baby leaf harvest: About 25–30 days
  • Full maturity: About 45–55 days from direct sowing in spring
  • Available options: 1,000 seeds, ¼ oz, 1 oz, ¼ lb, or 1 lb

Sow for a steady harvest

Direct sow as soon as the soil can be worked in spring, or start transplants indoors 3–4 weeks before setting them out. Barely cover seed with fine soil. For a continuing supply, sow another small batch about every three weeks.

Grow and care

Lettuce prefers cool growing conditions. Soil temperatures above 75°F can make germination difficult, so provide shade cloth or afternoon shade during warm weather. Keep soil evenly moist and protect young plants from excessive heat.

Harvest and enjoy

Pick individual outer leaves as needed, or cut the plant evenly above its growing point to encourage another harvest. For baby greens, harvest when the leaves reach the size you like. Use freshly picked leaves in salads and sandwiches for a crisp, tangy bite.
