Growing Guide

Starting indoors: Sow in late fall or early winter in starter trays with a peaty starter mix. Press seeds into the surface — do not cover; light aids germination. Keep at 60–65°F; germination in 21–30 days.

Transplanting: After seedlings develop their second or third true leaves, transplant to a protected outdoor seedbed or individual pots. Plant out in late winter or early spring.

Site & soil: Partial shade; humus-rich soil amended with plenty of organic matter, pH 6.0–7.2. Use a slow-release fertilizer at planting. Space 8 inches apart.
