Size: 3 Bulbs

Bring dramatic color to your summer garden with Landini Asiatic lily bulbs. Their large, upward-facing flowers are deep burgundy to midnight red, appearing almost black in some light. Upright stems add contrast to sunny borders, large patio containers, and cutting gardens.

What you receive

Choose a pack of 3 bulbs or 15 bulbs. One cart quantity purchases one pack in the selected size. This listing is for bulbs to plant, not seeds, a mixed-variety collection, or flowering potted plants. Photos of flowers illustrate the mature plant.

Variety highlights

  • Variety: Lilium ‘Landini’, an Asiatic lily.
  • Flower color: deep burgundy to midnight red, with a near-black appearance.
  • Flower form: large, upward-facing blooms.
  • Life cycle: bulb-forming perennial, not an annual.
  • Height: approximately 36 inches, with size varying by conditions.
  • Light: full sun to partial sun.
  • Hardiness: listed for USDA zones 3–9; local drainage and winter conditions affect success.
  • Uses: flower borders, roomy containers, and cut flowers.

Expect summer flowering, with timing affected by planting date, climate, and bulb establishment. The near-black description refers to very dark red flowers, not a solid black pigment. This listing does not promise fragrance.

When and how to plant

Plant in spring when the soil is workable and drains freely. Choose a site with good light, shelter from strong wind, and soil that does not remain waterlogged. Loosen the planting area and incorporate compost where needed to improve soil structure.

Plant bulbs with their growing tips pointing upward. As a general guide, set them about 6 inches deep and 8–12 inches apart, adjusting for bulb size and following any directions supplied with the bulbs. Water after planting to settle the soil.

Watering and feeding

Keep the root zone evenly moist during active growth without leaving it saturated. Water near soil level and allow excess water to drain. A light mulch helps conserve moisture and keep roots cooler; keep mulch from packing against emerging stems.

Feed according to a bulb or flowering-plant fertilizer label. Stake stems if needed in exposed sites, positioning supports carefully to avoid damaging bulbs. These lilies need ongoing care and should not be treated as maintenance-free plants.

Growing in containers

Choose a deep, stable pot with drainage holes and enough room for the bulbs, their roots, and soil above them. Use well-drained potting mix and avoid crowding. A large patio pot is more suitable than a shallow hanging box or small railing planter.

Check moisture regularly because containers dry faster than garden beds. Do not leave pots standing in water. In cold climates, protect container-grown bulbs from severe freezing and repeated freeze-thaw cycles; in-ground hardiness ratings do not provide the same protection for exposed pots.

Cut flowers and after-flowering care

For arrangements, cut stems as buds begin to open and leave as much foliage on the plant as practical to help replenish the bulb. Remove spent flowers if seed production is not desired, but leave green leaves and stems intact until they yellow naturally.

Remove dead stems after they have died back and clear away diseased debris. Divide established clumps when they become crowded or flowering declines, rather than automatically moving them every three years. Replant divisions while dormant, with timing suited to your climate.

Important pet safety

True lilies are extremely toxic to cats. Keep bulbs, plants, flowers, pollen, and vase water away from cats. If exposure is suspected, seek veterinary help immediately. These are ornamental bulbs, not food; keep them away from children and other pets.
