Onion Set: 30 BULBS

Grow crisp, sweet white onions from Ebenezer White onion sets. These small planting bulbs develop into round white onions with delicate papery skins, ideal for fresh slicing. Plant closer for young green onions or give them more room to develop full-sized bulbs for salads, burgers, and guacamole.

What you’re getting

  • Variety: Ebenezer White
  • Product: Onion sets, not seed
  • Day length: Long-day onion
  • Bulbs: Round and white, with a sweet flavor
  • Available quantities: 30 bulbs, 1 lb, or 5 lbs
  • Approximate count: 100–130 sets per pound; counts vary by bulb size

Planting and care

Plant dormant sets in soil enriched with compost and with good drainage. Set them 1–2 inches deep and 2–3 inches apart for young onions, or allow about 4–6 inches between plants for larger bulbs. Use thinnings as green onions. Keep the soil evenly moist while plants establish and bulbs develop, reducing watering as they approach maturity.

Harvest and storage

For full-sized onions, harvest when the bulbs have filled out and the tops begin to fall over naturally and turn brown. Lift gently, shake off loose soil, and retain the dry outer skins. Ebenezer White is best enjoyed fresh rather than relied on for long-term storage; keep harvested onions cool and check regularly for softening or sprouting.

In the kitchen

Slice into sandwiches and salads, dice into guacamole, or add to cooked dishes. Imagine pulling a handful of homegrown white onions just in time for a garden-fresh meal.
