Straight from the sun-drenched hillsides of Jamaica, the Scotch Bonnet is the soul of Caribbean cooking — fiercely hot, unmistakably fruity, and deeply aromatic. Our Caribbean Mix brings together the three classic color expressions: Red, Yellow, and Chocolate, all grown, hand-tended, and hand-harvested on our farm.

- 🍋 Distinctively fruity and smoky flavor — irreplaceable in jerk seasoning, hot sauces, and Caribbean cuisine
- 🌿 Open-pollinated, heirloom, untreated, and organically grown
- 🇯🇲 Sourced from Jamaica — true Caribbean provenance

- 🌱 Capsicum chinense species
Before You Handle These Seeds
Scotch Bonnets are extremely potent. Please follow these precautions every time:
- Always wear gloves when handling seeds or plants
- Wash hands thoroughly after removing gloves
- Keep hands away from eyes, nose, and all sensitive areas
- Keep lime juice nearby — it can help neutralize burning on skin
- Finish all work before removing gloves
Growing Instructions
Starting Seeds Indoors
- Soak seeds in room-temperature water for up to 24 hours to accelerate germination
- Sow seeds ¼" deep in warm seed-starting mix — gentle bottom heat helps until seedlings emerge
- Use organic seed-starting material; avoid peat pots or plugs, which can cause moisture and fungal issues
- Maintain warmth and good air circulation throughout germination
Transitioning Outdoors
- Harden off plants gradually — start with wind-protected spots and a couple of hours of sunlight daily
- Increase sun exposure over 1–2 weeks before full outdoor placement
- Bring indoors if nighttime temperatures fall below 55°F
- Transplant only when outdoor soil is consistently warm
Container Growing
- Scotch Bonnets thrive in containers — ideal for apartments, patios, and short-season climates
- Use 5-gallon containers minimum to prevent root crowding
- Can be grown indoors year-round for a continuous fresh harvest
Soil, Water & Fertilizer
- Soil: Fertile, well-draining; mulch around base with grass clippings or straw
- Water: Deep watering with soaker hoses during dry or hot spells
- Fertilizer: Slow-release fertilizer at transplant; liquid feed every two weeks during the growing season
