Sunny, bold, and unmistakably cheerful, Dutch Iris 'Golden Harvest' delivers superb tall blooms in rich, pure yellow — an elegant solution for the late-spring color gap between spring and summer flowering plants. Easy-going and aristocratic, these irises naturalize effortlessly, growing and multiplying year after year in borders and containers alike. Their long, strong stems make them a natural choice for cutting gardens and spring bouquets.

Plant Details

  • Color: Rich, pure golden yellow
  • Height: 18"–22" (45–56 cm)
  • Flowering Period: Late spring
  • Exposure: Full sun
  • Best Use: Borders, cut flowers, containers, naturalizing

Planting Instructions

  • Plant in fall for late spring blooms.
  • Choose a full sun site with well-draining soil. Amend with compost, peat moss, or ground bark if needed to improve drainage.
  • Plant bulbs 4" deep and 3" apart, pointed end up.
  • Water well after planting to settle the soil around each bulb.
  • In warmer climates, foliage emerges in fall and flowers develop in spring. In colder regions, both emerge after winter ends.

After Bloom Care

  • Cut flowers freely for bright, cheerful spring bouquets.
  • Leave foliage in place after blooming — it photosynthesizes energy to strengthen bulbs for next season.
  • Water about 1" per week during active growth.
  • Allow leaves to yellow and die back naturally in summer, then tidy up spent foliage.
  • Bulbs naturalize and multiply, giving you more blooms each year with no extra effort.

Container Growing

Plant in large containers with quality, well-draining potting mix and adequate drainage holes. Space 2–3" apart at 4" depth. Pair with darker iris varieties or cool-toned spring annuals to let the golden color really pop.
