Brittoniana Compacta Blue, also known as Mexican Petunia, is an annual flowering shrub native to Mexico. This plant offers a spreading, shrubby habit of 8-12" tall and 10-12" wide, with blue trumpet-shaped flowers from spring to frost. It tolerates wet soil and heat, flourishing in full or partial sun in borders, containers, and as a groundcover. This variety will self-seed and grow as a tender perennial in zone 9-11 but is best grown as an annual. The compact cultivar is excellent for tucking into mixed containers or landscapes to fill small spaces.
Very adaptable and low-maintenance Southern Star Ruellia tolerates both wet and dry conditions. A great product to expand Southern perennial programs; can be used as an in-ground or container annual in other regions, but is not recommended for the far North.
