Wax Begonia (Begonia Semperflorens Mix) - Start Begonia seeds early to have flowers that bloom all summer! In tropical or subtropical climates, the wax Begonia is a perennial plant that can grow to the size of a small shrub. In cooler climates, it is grown as an annual. These fibrous Begonias have tightly compacted foliage covered with red blooms. Begonia Semperflorens is prized for its constant bloom and the uniformity of size and shape. These Begonia plants will bloom until frost and they require very little maintenance.
Wax Begonias are wonderful bedding plants and they establish nicely from flower seeds! The uniformity of their size and shape makes them perfect for mass plantings. They are especially good in shady areas where few other plants will bloom. Wax Begonias plants are also great for container gardening. They make good houseplants as well. Begonia flower seeds are delicate and the consistency of powder. Start the flower seed indoors 10 - 12 weeks before last frost. Press Begonia seeds onto the sterile potting mixture, but do not cover the seeds.
